Press release - Bernier announces Giorgio Mammoliti as PPC candidate for Simcoe-Grey

Ottawa, ON, February 15, 2024 — The Leader of the People’s Party of Canada, Maxime Bernier, announced today that Giorgio Mammoliti would be representing the PPC in the riding of Simcoe—Grey (ON) for the 45th General Election.

“I am incredibly proud to have Giorgio on our growing team!” Bernier stated. “Giorgio brings with him a track record of getting things done as well as a wealth of political experience that will be invaluable to his campaign and his fellow candidates. I believe that come the next election, Giorgio will be the clear choice to represent the citizens of Simcoe—Grey!”

Mammoliti has an extensive political history. He served as the NDP Member of Provincial Parliament for the former riding of Yorkview. While MPP Giorgio served as Parliamentary Assistant to the Solicitor General, Minister of Correctional Services, and the Minister of Health where he assisted in drafting a provincial anti-drug strategy.

Mammoliti has also served on both the North York and Toronto City Councils. In his 18-year tenure on Toronto City Council, Mammoliti chaired a number of important committees including Parks & Environment, Community Development & Recreation, Affordable Housing, and the Toronto Zoo. He was also a member of Toronto Mayor Rob Ford’s Executive Committee, as well as serving on the Toronto Region Conservation Authority and The Hockey Hall of Fame Committee.

“It is a great honour that I have been selected to represent the PPC in the next federal election. If the People’s Party of Canada were around when I started my political career, this is the party which I would have represented from the beginning. I have finally found my political home and family,” stated Mammoliti. “I know that many residents of Simcoe—Grey are feeling financial pressures due to the irresponsible policies of the current government. When elected, I will ensure that our government puts Canadians First!”

In 2018, Mammoliti moved to Wasaga Beach in Simcoe—Grey. He enjoys the outdoors, cooking, and most importantly, being with family.
