Media release - The People’s Party of Canada Nominates Strong Candidates for BC By-Elections

PPC HQ, January 8, 2019 — Today, Clinton Desveaux, Executive Director of Maxime Bernier’s People’s Party of Canada, announced the nomination of Jennifer Clarke and Laura-Lynn Tyler Thompson as candidates for Burnaby South and Nanaimo—Ladysmith. They both are strong candidates who will represent the PPC in its first by-elections since the party was officially launched on September 14, 2018.

Jennifer Clarke is a long-time proponent of smaller government who is now working in the financial sector, and Laura-Lynn Tyler Thompson is a well-known TV personality and inspirational speaker who has fought for conservative values and parental rights.

The PPC intends to show the whole country that there is substantial support for the ideas put forward by its leader, Maxime Bernier, during those by-elections. The dates of the by-elections are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.

More information about the candidates:

Laura-Lynn Tyler Thompson, Burnaby South: An author and inspirational speaker, Laura-Lynn Tyler Thompson is the former co-host of The 700 Club Canada, as well as her own national daily TV show, Laura-Lynn & Friends. Over 90 of her personal interviews have aired on the Biography Channel Canada. She describes her journey in her book Relentless Redemption. She ran for the Burnaby school board.

Jennifer Clarke, Nanaimo—Ladysmith : Jennifer Clarke was born on Vancouver Island. She has been married for 22 years and is the mother of two children. She is deeply concerned with the direction in which our country is heading. Jennifer has been an active volunteer in her community for her entire life. She is currently working in the financial planning industry, helping families applying for Registered Education Savings Plans.

It is time for a new kind of politics. Maxime Bernier is the most courageous Canadian politician in decades. We don’t need power hungry politicians who court special interest groups, but rather impassioned defenders of our country who will put the concerns of the people first. The People’s Party of Canada has begun a movement that will restore integrity to our government!”—Laura-Lynn Tyler Thompson, PPC candidate in Burnaby South.

“I am running to ensure that our children and grandchildren will live in a land that has all the freedoms that our forefathers fought for. I want to stand up and be a voice for the people in Parliament, bringing issues that are of great concern to Canadians—I want to see integrity and fiscal responsibility brought back!”—Jennifer Clarke, PPC candidate in Nanaimo-Ladysmith.

“I am glad that we have two such principled and committed candidates in British Columbia. Laura-Lynn and Jennifer represent a growing number of Canadians tired of the Liberals’ big-government policies and the Conservatives’ unprincipled leadership. The PPC is the best alternative to the established parties that have failed to address the issues that concern people. I invite all British Columbians to join our movement to send a clear message to Ottawa: We had enough of the LibCons!” — Maxime Bernier, PPC leader
