Media release - Bernier says Brexit Party victory is proof anything can happen in October

Gatineau, May 27, 2019 – Yesterday, Nigel Farage and his newly formed Brexit Party won the European Parliament election in the United Kingdom, resulting in a stunning defeat for the old Conservative and Labour parties. Other populist conservative parties won in several European countries. This follows the surprising re-election of the populist conservative coalition in Australia last week, despite polls that predicted its defeat.

“Everywhere, parties that generally advocate for less immigration and smaller government, and oppose globalism and climate change hysteria, are winning,” commented People’s Party of Canada Leader Maxime Bernier.

“These election results show that politics can be transformed quickly when the people decide they are tired of the old corrupt parties and want change. It made no difference that the Brexit Party was formally launched only four months ago.”

“This could be a harbinger of things to come here in Canada. Every day I am hearing from Canadians who want a new option. Now is the time for bold reform and real change. That’s what the PPC represents for Canada,” Bernier concluded.
